At BreakFlights, we understand that travel plans can change unexpectedly. This Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which refunds and cancellations are processed for flight bookings facilitated by our team of travel agents on your behalf.

BreakFlights acts as an independent travel agency — a third-party intermediary between you and the airline. We do not set airline fare rules or refund policies. Refund eligibility is primarily determined by the fare type purchased and the airline's applicable cancellation policy, in addition to our own service terms.

24-Hour Cancellation Window

24-Hour Free Cancellation: In accordance with US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, all flight bookings made at least 7 days before departure are eligible for a full refund if cancelled within 24 hours of purchase.

This applies to all fare types — including non-refundable tickets — as long as the booking was made at least 7 days prior to the scheduled departure date and the cancellation request is received within 24 hours of the original booking time.

💳 Refund Timeline — 24-Hour Cancellations

Full refunds under the 24-hour policy are processed within 5–10 business days to the original payment method used at the time of booking.

⚠️ Important: The 24-hour window is strictly timed from the moment of booking confirmation. Cancellation requests received after 24 hours will be subject to the standard fare rules of your ticket type (see Section 3).

Refundable vs Non-Refundable Tickets

The refundability of your ticket depends on the fare type selected and confirmed at the time of booking. Your agent will clearly explain the fare conditions before any payment is collected.

✅ Refundable Fares

Eligible for a full refund to the original payment method, minus any applicable BreakFlights service fee, when cancelled before the scheduled departure date.

⚠️ Non-Refundable Fares

Not eligible for a cash refund after the 24-hour window. Depending on the airline's policy, the remaining ticket value may be held as a travel credit for future use.

🚫 Basic Economy Fares

Generally non-refundable and non-changeable after purchase. Please review all fare conditions carefully before confirming a Basic Economy booking.

📌 The fare type and its full conditions — including refundability — are clearly disclosed by your BreakFlights agent before payment is collected. No booking is confirmed without your explicit agreement to the fare terms.

Airline-Initiated Changes & Cancellations

✅ If your flight is cancelled or significantly changed by the airline, you are entitled to a full refund regardless of your fare type.

Significant changes that qualify for a full refund include any of the following made by the airline without your agreement:

  • Departure or arrival time changes of 3 or more hours
  • Changes to your departure or arrival airport
  • Additional connections or layovers added to your itinerary
  • A downgrade in cabin class (e.g. from Business to Economy)
  • Full flight cancellation by the operating airline

📞 How to Request — Airline-Initiated Changes

Contact BreakFlights as soon as you are notified of any significant change. We will coordinate the refund or rebooking on your behalf with the airline.

⏳ Processing Time — Airline-Initiated Refunds

Refunds for airline-initiated cancellations or significant changes are typically processed within 7–14 business days, depending on the airline's own processing timelines. BreakFlights will follow up on your behalf throughout the process.

⚠️ BreakFlights is an independent travel agency and cannot force or accelerate refund processing by the airline. We will advocate on your behalf and keep you informed of progress.

Change Fees & Rebooking

If you need to change your travel dates, route, or passenger details after the 24-hour cancellation window has closed, the following applies:

Flexible & Refundable Fares
Date and route changes are permitted subject to fare difference and any applicable airline change fee. Contact us to check availability and cost before proceeding.
Non-Refundable Fares
Changes may be permitted by the airline for a change fee plus any fare difference. Eligibility varies by airline and fare rules. Contact us to check if your ticket qualifies.
Basic Economy Fares
Most Basic Economy tickets do not permit changes after purchase. Please review fare conditions carefully at the time of booking.
BreakFlights Service Fee for Changes
A BreakFlights service fee of $25–$75 per ticket may apply for changes processed through our team, in addition to any airline-imposed fees. This fee will be disclosed before any changes are made.
💡 Tip: We recommend considering travel insurance at the time of booking to protect against unexpected changes, cancellations, or travel disruptions.

No-Show Policy

A no-show occurs when a passenger does not board their flight and has not cancelled or changed their booking in advance. The following rules apply:

🚫 Non-Refundable No-Shows

If you hold a non-refundable fare and do not board your flight without prior cancellation, the ticket is generally non-refundable and the full value of the ticket is forfeited in accordance with the airline's no-show policy.

✅ Refundable No-Shows

If you hold a refundable fare and contact BreakFlights before your scheduled departure, you may still be eligible for a refund subject to the airline's applicable terms. Contact us immediately at +1 (667) 400-4427.

🔗 Missed Connecting Flights

If you miss a connecting flight due to a delay on a prior leg of the same booking, please contact BreakFlights immediately. We will work to rebook you on the next available flight at no additional charge where the airline permits.

⚠️ Important: If you know in advance that you will not be able to travel, always contact BreakFlights as early as possible. Early notification significantly increases the likelihood of recovering some or all of your ticket value.

BreakFlights service fees are generally non-refundable once a booking has been confirmed and ticketed, regardless of whether the airline fare is refunded.
